Sukhothai
Sukhothai is among the most well known for the ruins of the ancient city Sukhothai literally means “Dawn of Happiness”, King Ramkhamhaeng is credited with creating the modern Thai alphabet. The wonderful temples as well as ancient monuments of such a great city tend to be lovingly restored, and Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is definitely a must-see for tourists.
